Anne C. Duncan, 90, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026. Born August 29, 1935, in London, England, she was the second of four children of George and Dorothy Steele.
Anne’s life carried her far from her beginnings in England, but wherever life took her, she brought with her a creative spirit, an appreciation for beauty and a deep love for those closest to her. She worked as a salesperson, where her friendly nature and ability to connect with others served her well.
Anne especially enjoyed knitting, cooking and gardening, pursuits that reflected the way she saw the world. Whether creating something beautiful or tending to flowers and plants, she found pleasure in color, creativity and the simple satisfaction of watching something take shape beneath her hands.
More than anything, Anne’s life was enriched by her family and friends. She experienced the joys and sorrows that come with a long life, yet the relationships she shared with those she loved remained among her greatest treasures. Her family will remember her not only for the things she enjoyed and accomplished, but for the many ordinary moments they shared—the conversations, laughter, traditions and memories that become more precious with time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Duncan; her parents; her son, Michael Duncan; and her brother, Mickey Hickinbotham.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Gilbride and husband Bob of Little Rock; her granddaughter, Rebecca Burke and husband Patrick of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, her great-grandson, Henry Burke; her sister, Eunice Harris and husband Graham of London, England; and her brother, William Steele and wife Chris, as well as her many cherished nieces and nephews.
Though separated by many miles over the years, the bonds of family remained an enduring part of Anne’s life. From her childhood home in England to the life she made in Arkansas, hers was a journey filled with family, creativity and experiences spanning two countries and nine decades. Those who loved her will carry forward the memories of a life uniquely and beautifully her own.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2026, at Humphrey Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
