Archie C. Reid

Archie C. Reid, 84, of Russellville, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at his home. The son of Walter and Berniece Burbanks Reid, he was born May 27, 1919 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Mr. Reid worked in the WPA in the 1930's around Dillon, Arkansas and the Houston, Texas shipyards until World War II. He married Pauline May Sexton on October 2, 1940 in Russellville. During World War II, Archie served in Western Europe as a sniper in the United States Army. Following the war, he worked in both commercial and residential construction in the Russellville area. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union and the Rogers-Rye Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Brenda Scalco.
Survivors include his wife, May Reid, of Russellville; a son and daughter in law, Ron and Mary Reid of Russellville; four grandchildren, Rick Reid, Rusty Reid, Matthew Reid, Mark Reid; two great grandchidren.
Funeral will be at 10 A.M. Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Humphrey Chapel. Rev. David McLemore will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will be provided by the Rogers-Rye Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
