Athel Johnny Hill Obituary (1915

Athel J. Hill, 97, of Hector, died Monday, November 11, 2013, at Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 16, 1915, in Newton County to Enos and Myrtie Dickey Hill. He was a retired farmer; a member of the Dover Church of Christ; and enjoyed hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha Drewry Hill in 2002; two daughters, Shirley Chisum in 2011 and Verla Chisum in 1990; and three sisters and four brothers. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Charlcie Hill of Monticello, Arkansas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Arbie and Chester Adams of Deer, Wilma and Don Johnson of Russellville and Judy and Bob Sims of Dover; two brothers, William Hill of Wichita, Kansas and Junior Hill of Springdale; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the Dover Church of Christ with Mr. Micah Williams, Mr. Alan Boatright, and Mr. Chip Porter officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Active pallbearers will be Jackie Chisum, Wayne Strickland, Jay Hill, Rodney Adams, Chip Porter, Dale Stringer, Brian Johnson and Brent Harlan. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mr. Hill's Sunday school class at the Dover Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
