Barbara Taylor, 78, of Hector, Arkansas, moved to Heaven, Tuesday, October 20, 2026. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, Barbara leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, and love.
The daughter of Arvel and Ruth Craig Condley, Barbara was born July 12, 1948, in Hector, Arkansas. On June 10, 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Julian Leon “Pete” Taylor, in Hector. Together, they built a life centered on their love for one another, their family, and their Christian faith.
Barbara was truly the matriarch of her family, a woman whose strength, wisdom, and unwavering love provided a foundation for generations. Her greatest joy was found in the lives of those she loved. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she treasured family gatherings, celebrated every accomplishment, and took loved watching her family grow. Her nurturing spirit, gentle encouragement, and steadfast devotion made her a source of comfort and strength to those blessed to call her family.
Barbara worked as a secretary for Hector Public Schools, where she was a familiar and welcoming presence. Through her years of service, she developed lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless students, teachers, and families throughout the community.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Barbara was a dedicated member of Welcome Home Free Will Baptist Church. Her church was much more than a place of worship; it was an extension of her family and a central part of her life. She faithfully served in numerous capacities, including Sunday School teacher, church secretary and treasurer, member of the Women's Auxiliary (WAC), and choir member. Whether teaching God's Word, lifting her voice in praise, supporting missionary efforts, or quietly working behind the scenes, Barbara served with a willing heart and a genuine desire to make a difference. Her Christian witness was reflected not only in the responsibilities she accepted but also in the kindness, generosity, and love she extended to others.
Barbara found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, and creating handmade crafts, especially those supporting missions. An enthusiastic sports fan, especially basketball, she faithfully cheered for the Arkansas Razorbacks and her beloved Hector Wildcats. These interests brought her joy, but it was the opportunity to share them with family and friends that made them especially meaningful.
Above all, Barbara will be remembered as a woman who lived her faith, loved her family wholeheartedly, and gave generously of herself. Her influence will continue through the generations she helped nurture, the church she faithfully served, and the many lives she touched along the way. While her family and friends will deeply miss her presence, they find comfort in the precious memories she leaves behind and in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel and Ruth Condley; and five siblings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Leon “Pete” Taylor of Hector; her daughter, Julia Taylor Langford and husband Marcus of Russellville; her son, Stephen Taylor and wife Traci of Maumelle; three grandchildren, Chance Skinner and wife Alicia, Dylan Taylor and wife Emily, and Victoria Morton; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Ann Chronister of Russellville. She also leaves behind extended family, her church family, and many dear friends who will cherish her memory.
