Rev. Carl Harvel Varnell Obituary (1942 - 2021)

Carl Harvel Varnell was born in Bossier City, LA September 28, 1942. He passed from this life at the age of 79 on December 4, 2021. Carl began his ministry at the age of 15 when he was filled with the Holy Ghost in a prayer meeting at his home and received the revelation of baptism in Jesus Name. He immediately began to evangelize and graduated from Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, Mississippi. He had served as an ordained minister for 61 years with the United Pentecostal Church International. In those years he was honored to be a Pastor, Missionary, Pacific Regional Director and Foreign Missions Secretary. Carl was an anointed speaker and teacher and loved sharing the Word of God. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Clyde & Idell Varnell, his first wife JoAnn (Martin) Varnell and granddaughter Olivia JoAnn Burton. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Gail Varnell of Danville, Arkansas. One son, Carlton Martin (Marty) Varnell and his wife Melinda (Jones) Varnell along with their children Zachary Varnell and his wife Chloe (Barrier) Varnell and Kade Varnell of Richmond, Virginia. One daughter, Carla Elizabeth (Varnell) Burton and son-in-law, J. Kurtis Burton along with their daughter, Caitlin (Burton) Dykes and her husband, Travis Dykes, Jr of Nashville, Tennessee. One stepson, Greg Henry and his wife Monya (Lansdell) Henry along with their children Macy Henry engaged to Peyton Shoulders, Melody Henry and Landry Henry of New York City, New York. One stepdaughter, Kim (Henry) Stone and her husband Dee Stone and their daughters Kelsey (Stone) Lisenbey and her husband Caleb Lisenbey, Kenzie Stone, Kyley Stone and Kinlie Stone of Danville, Arkansas. Today we celebrate the life of a faithful man as he receives his eternal reward. This is the moment for which he lived his entire life. He is hearing the Lord say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of the Lord." If we weep, it is not for him, but for ourselves. We will miss his presence with us upon this earth, but we rejoice that today he stands in the presence of His God! Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Plainview Jesus Name Church. Greg Henry, Stacy Lisenbey, Tim Gaddy, J. Kurtis Burton, Zachary Varnell, Carlton Martin Varnell and Lynden Shalm will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, at the Church.
