Dover, Arkansas
Charley "Bud" Garrison, 84, of Dover, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. Born on January 20, 1940, in Ben Hur, Arkansas, to James and Ethel Freeman Garrison, Bud’s life was a testament to his devotion to family, faith, and hard work.
A loving husband, father, and “Poppy,” Bud's greatest joy came from the family he built with his beloved wife of 38 years, Shirley Jean Burnette Garrison. Together, they raised their children with values rooted in faith, love, and compassion. He was a familiar face in church, a man of strong Christian beliefs who found peace and purpose in worship and fellowship. His life was marked by kindness, humility, and a steadfast commitment to his faith and family.
Bud made his living as a logger and truck driver, but his heart was always at home and at church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing his guitar, often sharing these moments with family, friends, and his church community. Whether at family gatherings, church events, or simple evenings on the porch, Bud’s warm presence and gentle humor made everyone feel welcome.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Allen Garrison, his brother, James Garrison; and six sisters: Genita Freeman, Verlie Anders,, Lois George, Barbara Moore, Wanda Garrison and Patricia Petrosky.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Garrison of Dover; two sons, Manuel and Julie and Tony and Chanda both of Hector; daughter, Sherron and Freddie Cogburn of Russellville; grandchildren, Vance and Leronda Garrison, Lynn Garrison, Kaycee Riley, Amber Garrison, Dustin and Tori Garrison, Whitney and Tyler Hayes, Jordan Piearcy, Hunter Piearcy, and Jake Riley, great grandchildren, Abby and Anna Garrison, Cooper Garrison, Brayleigh, Tripp, Lainey and Case Riley, Camdyn, Haezyn and Emmitt Jones, Aria, Everleigh, Denver and Kade Garrison, Jameson Hayes, two sisters-in-law, Ellen Garrison and Gail Burnette, along with a host of other family members and dear friends from church.
