Christine Cochran, 96, of Russellville, formerly of London, died Friday, November 10, 2023, at Russellville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Russellville. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at East Point Cemetery beginning at 1:30 PM with visitation and the service at 2:00 PM, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Rev. Robert Heflin will be officiating.\n\nThe daughter of Albert and Clara Omega (Sims) Whorton, she was born December 28, 1926, in London, Arkansas.\n\nChristine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Cochran; a son, Stanley Cochran; two brothers and a sister. She is survived by two brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Charles Cochran (Linda) of London; and Fines Harmon (Dortha); a sister-in-law, Wanda Cochran; and many nieces and nephews.\n\nChristine was a public school educator throughout her life. She interviewed as a teacher on a farm as the man who hired her was plowing his field. He hired her on the spot and she began teaching in the Russellville School District at age 17. She taught in the same district another 50 years before retiring.\n\nChristine loved her Lord and His church. She was a member of the London Assembly of God where she played piano, a ministry she provided in several other churches with whom she affiliated over the years including Martin Chapel Assembly of God and East Point Baptist Church.
