Claudia Elizabeth (Newton) Jurney Obituary (1945

Claudia Elizabeth Jurney, 77, of Dover, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at her home. The daughter of Claude and Catherine (Newnum) Newton, she was born February 23, 1945, in Phoenix, AZ. She married David Jurney, on June 16, 1980, in Dallas, Texas. Claudia will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and beloved by all that knew her. She was a member of the Pope County Democrats and Ellis County Texas Hotline. She enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy, playing Trivial Pursuit and Gin Rummy, and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gregory Pierce Sr.; two brothers, Andy and Butchie Armstrong. Survivors include her husband, David Harold Jurney Jr., Dover; a daughter, Elizabeth Swift Jurney, Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Gregory Pierce (Rebecca), Russellville; Ashlie Vasquez (Frankie), Russellville; Landon Pierce (Taylor), Dallas, TX; Nolan Griffith, Fort Worth, TX; Abby Valek (Daniel), Avalon, TX; Five great grandchildren, Justin, Amanda, Kobie, Addy and Wade; one sister, Cheryl Palmer, Tyler, TX. A private committal service will be held at the new Chapel of Light at the J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center by Humphrey Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to CARTI Foundation, P.O.
