Ed McSpadden

–

Russellville, Arkansas

Ed McSpadden, 47, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at UAMS in Little Rock. The son of Roy McSpadden and Troylynn Burris McSpadden, he was born July 1, 1979, in Russellville.

Ed married Dixie Wetzel on August 18, 2001, in Prairie Grove. Together, they built a life rooted in family, faith, and service to others. Ed was deeply devoted to Dixie and their children, and he treasured the life they shared. For all he accomplished in business, golf, and the community, his family remained his greatest source of pride and purpose.

Ed was a 1998 graduate of Russellville High School and later attended the University of Arkansas. He also earned his general contractor’s license. A true entrepreneur and natural salesman, Ed had a gift for building businesses as well as relationships. He expanded his family-owned business, Burris Inc., into In2 Market, In2 Window and Door, In2 Construction, McSpadden Properties, and Buffalo River Log Homes. Ed had a relentless work ethic, always thought outside the box to grow his businesses, and he loved his community and his customers. He participated in Leadership Russellville and approached his work as more than simply a way to make a living. For Ed, business was another opportunity for ministry—to encourage people, build relationships, and share his faith in Christ.

Ed was a member of Fellowship Bible Church, where his faith was an active and defining part of his life. He served as a community group Bible study leader, and over the years he also volunteered to teach Sunday school, served as a youth leader, and taught Wednesday night children’s church. He traveled on mission trips to Albania, Colombia, and Guinea. His heart for missions reflected his desire to see the Gospel shared with people both at home and around the world.

Golf was also an important part of Ed’s life. He played for the Arkansas Razorbacks and later competed professionally, winning first place in the local U.S. Open qualifier and advancing to the regional qualifier. He volunteered to help coach junior golf and enjoyed giving many golf lessons. His love for the game continued through his service on the Russellville Country Club Board.

Away from work, Ed enjoyed woodworking, duck hunting, fishing, canoeing, and spending time outdoors. Whether with his family, serving others, building a business, on the golf course, or working with his hands, Ed brought purpose and faith to everything he did.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Janine McSpadden of Dover; four children, Clara Lynn McSpadden, Chloie Elizabeth McSpadden, Anna Kay McSpadden, and Mac Wetzel McSpadden; his parents, Roy McSpadden and Troylynn Burris McSpadden of Dover; his grandmother, Linda McSpadden of Paragould; his parents-in-law, Lex and Priscilla Wetzel of Prairie Grove; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Damon and Audrey Wetzel of Prairie Grove; his nephew and niece, Foster and Bailey Layman of Farmington, and their son, Kohen Layman; his niece, Breanna Wetzel and fiancé Carter Flum of Prairie Grove; and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Troy E. Burris, Margie Henderson Burris, and Roy A. McSpadden.
