Francis Jones

Francis M. Jones, 85, of Hector, passed away September 2, 2023, at Legacy Heights Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his family. A visitation is planned for Tuesday, September 5, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Humphrey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dean Caldwell will officiate funeral services at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, with burial following at Rock Springs Cemetery in Hector under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank M. and Clara Minnetta Jones. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emma Jones; his children: Dale Jones (Loretta), Frank Jones (Jennie), Melecia Duvall (Roger), and Ricky Jones (Jamie); grandchildren: Stephanie Patterson (Adam), Dessie Jones, and Maddox Jones; and great-grandchildren: Jadence and Zion Patterson.

Francis was born in 1938 in Dearborn, Michigan. In 1958, he moved to Hector and met Emma. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963, working mechanical maintenance on B52 Bombers. He later worked for the Arkansas Highway Department from 1971 until he retired in 1998.

Francis was a man of musical talent, most known for his skill on the violin, guitar, and harmonica. After retirement, he enjoyed playing the violin at nursing homes and various other venues.

He attended Newton Springs Community Church. He was a man of God and enjoyed reading the Bible and worshipping through music. He loved the outdoors and spent many treasured hours with his grandchildren working around the yard and barn.

Honorary pallbearers are the many groups with whom he shared his love for music. Active pallbearers include Dale Jones, Frank Jones, Ricky Jones, Roger Duvall, Adam Patterson, and Kevin Tryon.
