George Pryor Johnson

George Pryor Johnson, PhD, 59, of Russellville, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of George and Eloise (Nolen) Johnson, he was born March 20, 1956 in Louisville, KY. He married Terry Jureka on May 16, 1981 in Russellville, KY. Dr. Johnson received his doctorate in Botany at North Carolina State University after completing his bachelors and masters degrees in Biology at Western Kentucky University. He was a professor of biology and curator of the herbarium (APCR) in the department of biological sciences at Arkansas Tech University. Dr. Johnson was the treasurer of the Australian Shepherd Health and Genetics Institute. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Terry Johnson of Russellville; sister, Jeanne Johnson Bugar and husband, Michael of Fort Worth, TX; and his beloved dogs, Friday, Howie, Finis, Rocco, Sunday, Tuesday and SiSi.
