Hallene Rentfro Tucker Obituary (1913

Hallene Rentfro Tucker, 90, of Dover, AR, died Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2003 at her home. Born February 24, 1913 near Dover, Arkansas, she married Milton C. Tucker on November 12, 1933. They were married 70 years. Hallene was a homemaker, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Dover United Methodist Church. The Great Depression impressed the young wife, Mrs. Tucker, with the necessity of thrift and frugality, as well as the need to put her husband back in college for a career in education, ending as superintendent of Dover High School. Mrs. Tucker reared her three children to professional careers. Daughter, Virginia Sue McManus practiced as an RN at Little Rock Baptist Hospital. The sons were college professors; Ed was a chemist at University of Oklahoma and David a historian at the University of Memphis. After rearing the children, Hallene continued to be active in the Russellville Garden Club, and the United Methodist Women, while quilting and researching geneaology. Besides her three children, Hallene is also survived by her husband, Milton, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Milton Tucker, of Dover; a daughter, Virginia Sue McManus; two sons, Ed Tucker and David Tucker; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 P.M. Monday, December 29, 2003 at Humphrey Chapel. Rev. Eddy Howell will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6-7:30 P.M.
