Helen Pennington Goree

Helen Pennington Goree of Pottsville, went to be with her lord and beloved husband, Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Allegiance Hospital in Little Rock. She was the daughter of Rex and Georgia Bradshaw Pennington. She and her husband owned and operated Pottsville Nursery which is the oldest family owned and operated nursery in Arkansas. After her husband's death in 1988, she continued to operate the business until her death. She was a Charter Member of the First Baptist Church at Pottsville. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon W. Goree; her parents; a brother, Charles Pennington; a sister, Lena Chambers and a nephew, Jim Chambers. Survivors include a son, Gary Goree and wife Susan of Bluffton; a daughter,Sherry Sparks and husband James of Russellville; three grandchildren; Michele Osolin and husband Chris of Germany, Glen Goree of Russellville, Gwen Goree of Russellville; six great grandchildren, Lance Goree of Germany, Kathleen, Heather and Kevin Osolin of Germany, Austin and Gavin Goree of Russellville; two sisters-in-law, Cathryn Pennington of Russellville and Pearl Goree of Springdale, also a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be at 10:00AM Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Pottsville First Baptist Church. The Reverend Jim Huffman and Brother Neil Edmonson will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Pottsville First Baptist Church Building Fund, 5390 W. Ash, Pottsville, AR 72858. Pallbearers will be Rex Chambers, Glen Goree, Keith Shipley, Bill Cocanougher, Charles Oats, and Darrell Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Duffield, Glen and Rick Taylor, Bill and John Chambers, Charles Harrison, Arlee Pollard, Lynn Crabill, and members of the Pottsville Fire Department
