Ila Catherine Cains

Ila Catherine Cains, 88, of Russellville, formerly of Atkins, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at her residence. The daughter of John Ardis and Ila Jane Matthews Tyson, she was born January 21, 1926 in Atkins. She was a Secretary for the Sequoyah Elementary school for 19 years. Her greatest accomplishment was raising four boys. Ila was a very faithful member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, where she played the Piano for many years. She enjoyed participating in the Economy Extension Homemakers and volunteering for Arkansas Hospice and the Senior Center. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, walking the Bona Dea Trails and had the heart of a servant. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Walter Cains; her parents; one son, David Cains and three older brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Bob Cains of Russellville, Billy Cains and wife Mary Jane of Altus, Ronald Cains and wife Lisa of Altus; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00PM, Monday, November 17, 2014 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Atkins. Brother Charlie Bird will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery near Atkins by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Sunday, at the funeral home.
