Iris Glendene Word

Iris Glendene Word, 78, of Atkins, died Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

The daughter of Eli and Mary Katherine (Hayes) Charmasson, Iris was born November 2, 1946, in Woodward, Oklahoma. She married James Allen Word on April 21, 1962, in Bellville, Arkansas.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 33 years, James Word; a son, Jamie Word; her sister, Rita Eden; and her brother, Billy Charmasson.

She is survived by her two daughters: Lisa Meyer (Rodney) of Atkins, and Christie Buchanan (James) of Little Rock; seven grandchildren: Camron Meyer, Connor Meyer, Johnnie Meyer, Brittany Couser, Katilyn Couser, Alex Hernandez, and Jonathan; two great grandchildren: Ronald Charmasson and Kennox; and a brother, Ronald Charmasson.

Iris worked at the Russellville Kmart as a cashier and stock clerk. She enjoyed gardening, horses, and attending rodeo events.
