Video Tribute\nhttps://vimeo.com/179380656 \n\nJ. D. Humphrey, 90, of Russellville, died Monday, August 8, 2016 at\nRussellville Nursing & Rehab in Russellville. The son of Jess and Ethel Motley\nHumphrey, he was born January 26, 1926 in Russellville. He was a United States\nNavy Veteran of World War II. \n\nJ.D. was a 1944 Graduate of Russellville High School and joined the United States Navy immediately upon graduation. He and Ruby Davis were married on August 11, 1948 in Russellville. They purchased Colonial Flower Shop in 1951 and operated it for 40 years. The shop was originally located at West 8th Street and South Denver Avenue, but was moved to West Main Street in 1956.\n\nHe served on the Russellville school board for eight years and for two terms on the Russellville City Council as alderman and he was an active member of the Russellville Rotary Club. \n\nHe and Ruby were active members of the Pope County Democratic Committee and worked in local elections for many years. They also worked together at the Arkansas State Legislature's VIP Room from 1995 through 2000.\n \nHe loved the game of golf and was a long time member of the Russellville Country Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Davis Humphrey his parents; 3 brothers, Louie Humphrey, Herman Humphrey and Max\nHumphrey.\n\nHe is survived by his daughter, Nana Robertson (Larry), Apopka, FL; 2 grandchildren, \nJourdan Robertson and Clay Robertson. \n\nMemorial service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Humphrey\nChapel. David Rachel and Jim Bob Humphrey will officiate. The family will\nreceive friends from 9:15 am until service time at the funeral home. Full\nmilitary honors will be provided by the Rogers-Ryes Post #2283 of the Veterans\nof Foreign Wars.
