James (Jim) Clevenger Obituary (1931 - 2015)

James (Jim) Clevenger, 84, and a previous Russellville, Arkansas resident died on September 9, 2015 at Paris Health and Rehab in Paris, Arkansas, following a long-term illness and hospital stay. Prior to his Russellville residency, he was a longtime resident of Little Rock, Arkansas. He leaves his daughter, (Debra) Debbie Swindell and husband Russell of Russellville, Arkansas; two sons, Steve Clevenger and wife Stormy of Warrenton, Virginia, John (Bobby) Clevenger and wife Heather of Waxhaw, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; Laura Beth Tripp, Russ Swindell, Andrew Clevenger, Matt Clevenger, Ben Clevenger, Stormy Shaw, Trey Clevenger, Madison Clevenger, and Luke Clevenger; five great grandchildren, Camryn Manning, Mitchell Manning, Jeric Shaw, and Kaedric Shaw. Jim was born in Carthage, Missouri to George Marion and Sophia Smith Clevenger. He was raised in the Springfield, Missouri area. Jim was a 1949 graduate of Smith Cotton High School and attended Southwest Missouri State prior to his military service in Korea and Japan. In his early years, Mr. Clevenger was in retail, employed by Sears and JC Penney where he was awarded high sales for the region. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Anderson Engineering Firm. Jim was a lover of animals and enjoyed the outdoors. His hobbies were archery, fishing, and fly tying. He was a member of Arkansas Fly Fishers, instrumental in the introduction of the brown trout to Arkansas' Little Red River. His favorite ball club, the St. Louis Cardinals was the love of his life. A private family funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th at the National Cemetery in Springfield, MO to honor his service in the U.S. Army. Reverend Steve Clevenger will officiate.
