Joel Rado Rambo

Joel Rado Rambo, 83, of Russellville, AR, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at his home. The son of Pastor Wade and Myrtle Godfrey Rambo, he was born December 24, 1923 in Vilonia. He married Katy June New, on February 13, 1946 at Reno, Nevada. They moved to Sutter, California in the early 60's and resided there until they moved back to Russellville in 1991. He was a Driller & Tool Pusher in the oil fields. He was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He is mostly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his little dog, Buttons. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Olan Rambo and Oran Rambo and a sister, Fern Bell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Katy Rambo of Russellville; his little dog, Buttons; daughter, Glenda Smarr & husband Jim of Russellville; son, Dan Rambo & wife Gwen of Vernal, Utah; daughter, Debbie Rambo of Russellville; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Joe Smarr of Durant, Oklahoma; Machele Gonzalvez of Fresno, California; Michael Smarr of Russellville, Jason Rambo of Fort Smith, John Rambo of Vernal, Utah, Derek Goodman of Russellville, Brandan Thomas of Plainview, Danielle Thomas of Russellville; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Serner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Humphrey Chapel. Pastor Eddie Rogers and Pastor Brandan Thomas will officiate.
Burial will be private under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6:30 7:30 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
