John Gordon Hillis

John Gordon Hillis, Sr., 94, of Murfreesboro, formerly of Russellville, died Saturday, January 18, 2003 at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville. The son of Robert and Ocie Bruton Hillis, he was born November 25, 1908 in Atkins. He attended Arkansas Polytechnic College and then worked as a salesman with K. C. Foods in North Little Rock for many years. He was a member of 5th and Greenwich Church of Christ in Russellville. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Emogene (Hamm) Hillis and was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Cayce Hillis and Robert Hillis.
Survivors include two sons, John G. Hillis, Jr. of Hot Springs, James Larry Hillis of Conway; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Nancy Hillis of Palo Alto, Bobbie Jean Hillis of Cleburne, Leigh Anne Smith of North Little Rock, Kimberly Sofia Pederson of Palo Alto; one great granddaughter, Kimberly Hillis of Long Beach, California.
Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m Monday, January 20, 2003 at the Appleton Cemetery officiated by Rev. Raymond Hillis. Burial will be under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
