Ken Guston Obituary (1942 - 2015) - Russellville, Arkansas

Ken Guston, 73, a resident of London, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. He was born February 16, 1942, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Albert Dean and Laura Elizabeth Wilson Guston. He worked in the recreation department of the United States Forestry Service for 30 years. During his years with the Forest Service, he helped layout the Ozark Highland Trails, Bona Dea Trail and many camp grounds and he designed the Scenic 7 Byway sign. After retirement from the Forest Service, he began work as a realtor with Cliff Goodin & Associates and later worked for River Valley Realty. He enjoyed playing pool, long distance running, hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Russellville Christian Center where he served as a Sunday school teacher and an usher. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous uncles and aunts. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia Guston of London; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jana Michele and Johnny Rice of Coal Hill, Joanna Margrette Rudder of Russellville and Tisha Lyne and Dustin Kemp of Alexander; four grandchildren, Amanda Lynn Rice of Coal Hill, Jessica Renee Ross of London, Chad Michael Teal of Phoenix, Arizona and Lucy Rose Kemp of Alexander; a great-grandson, Brody Charles Ross of London; two brothers, Albert Dean "Dobbin" Guston Jr. of Houston, Texas and William Doyle "Bill" Guston of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Mary Nannette Dupree and Elizabeth Lorene "Susie" Gilbert, both of Russellville; an uncle, Wendell James Gustin of Bakersfield, California; nephews and nieces, Matthew Curtis Gilbert, Bryan Daniel Gilbert, Nathan Andrew Gilbert, Rusty Darwin Olson and Lisa Denine Gamez; numerous great-nephews and great-nieces; and other relatives and friends. The family will have a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Russellville Christian Center with the Rev. Tom Underhill, the Rev. Susan Allen and the Rev. Lee Liechty officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
