Loren D. Sweat Obituary (1931 - 2012) - Russellville, Arkansas

Loren D. Sweat, 80, of Russellville, AR, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. The son of Loy and Leta Sweat, he was born September 21, 1931 in Elizabethtown, Il. He was a graduate with a Bachelors degree from Arkansas Tech University. He married Kathy J. Sweat on May 26, 1978 in Russellville, AR. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a Supervisor with Firestone tube company for 22 years. Loren was a volunteer adult education teacher who helped teach foreign languages. He was a member of the Woodlawn Freewill Baptist Church where he was the treasurer, usher, and a Sunday school teacher. He always enjoyed reading and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Lelani Louise Sweat; one son Loy Douglas Sweat; three brothers; and three sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years Kathy Sparks Sweat of Russellville; four daughters Lori Barnes & husband Jay of Dover, Georgia Parsons & husband Steve of Ozark, Stephanie Williams & husband Tracy of Russellville, and Amanda Lewis of Russellville; his grandchildren Darrah Walker & husband Denver of Dover, Tuesday Waldee & husband John of Van Buren, Sasha Stewart & husband Jason of Ozark, Nakeista Parsons of Ozark, Stevie Parsons of Ozark, Devin Lewis of Casa, Emily Lewis of Casa, Marissa Williams of Russellville, and Brandon Williams of Russellville; and nine great- grandchildren Funeral will be at 2:00PM, Monday, May 14, 2012 at Humphrey Chapel. Brother Charles Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Old Baptist Cemetery in Russellville, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will be provided by Roger-Rye post 2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, on Sunday, at the funeral home.
