Mary Kathern (Matthews) Leavell Obituary (1935 - 2020)

Mary Kathern Leavell, 85, of Dover, died Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville. The daughter of Earl and Eddie Mae (Kraus) Mathews, she was born August 22, 1935, in Dover. Kathern attended Pleasant Grove School through 8th grade. She retired from Tyson Foods. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, anything in the great outdoors and worshipped in the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Finis Leavell; a daughter, Belinda Waterman; 7 sisters and a brother. Kathern has a large family to remember her life and legacy. They include her two sons, Steve Leavell (Donna) and Jamie Leavell (Sonya), both of Dover; three daughters, Trudy Owens of Russellville, Annette Leavell of Lamar, and Tammy McMinn (Danny) of Dover; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Stella Manor Nursing Home for their extremely kind and considerate care of "Granny Leavell." A graveside service & burial will be held at Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Annie's Chapel Cemetery in Hagarville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Rev.
