Michael Lee Sims, 58, a resident of Russellville, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.\n\n He was born June 8, 1958, in Oakland, California to Clyde Ellis and Wanee Beare Sims. He retired from the United States Navy as a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class and worked several years for Taber Metal in Russellville. He enjoyed gadgets, shopping, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of East Point Baptist Church where he served as an usher and a former Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Pamela Sims, Rita Sims and her twin, Anita Taylor; and a brother, Don Sims.\n\nSurvivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Connie Sims of Russellville; a brother-in-law, Rick Taylor of Russellville; sister-in-law, Lois Sims of Russellville; two nephews, Rusty and Richie Taylor, both of Russellville; six nieces, Misty Huddleston, and her husband, Jeremy, of Costa Mesa, California, Sherry Wilson and her husband, Blake, of Russellville, Annette Pugh and her husband, Ronnie, of Pottsville, Gina Overturf of Russellville, Brandie Foster and her husband, Doug, of Russellville and Brittanie Burruss and her husband, Zach, of Dover; numerous great-nephews and great-nieces, Lacey Bradford, Devyn Bradford, Leighton Alexander, Gage Fisher, Kaylyn Simmons, Adrianne Warren and Bryar Burruss; numerous great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces; an aunt and uncle, Robert and Sheryl Sims of London; an aunt, Nina Jean Waller of Russellville; and other relatives and friends.\n\nThe funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at East Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Pless officiating.
