Richard Young

Richard Young, 72, of Dover, peacefully passed away, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at St. Marys Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR, after being ill for the last five years. Born May 4, 1938 in Missouri, Richard was an immense blessing to his parents, Lester and Eva Sneed Young. The family relocated to Benton Harbor, Michigan where spent his teenage years, graduating from High School in 1956. Remarkably, at the age of 18, he spent the next 3 years building his own 3 bedroom home while attending college.
Richard believed in the value of hard work, and after moving to Russellville in 1974, he founded Youngs Janitorial Service, which he operated until his retirement in 1995. He was also a perfectionist, always putting 100% effort into everything he touched and finishing each project he started. A man of genuine generosity and compassion, Richard spent hours mowing the yards of sick or elderly friends and neighbors before his own failing health forced him to slow down.
A man of extraordinary talent, Richard was an accomplished artist whose work was displayed in a prestigious Art Gallery in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He enjoyed painting with oils and Richard painted a wide variety of scenes. His passion, however, was restoring antique cars and furniture. Richard completely rebuilt and finished a 1966 F-100 pickup painted in factory powder blue and was in the process of restoring a 1967 Pontiac Ventura with a 450hp engine. His favorite place to work was in his shop which was organized with Richards touch of exactness and precision.
September 15, 1984 was one of the happiest days of Richards life when he married his true love and best friend, Angie. Together they formed a bond that brought them closer with each passing day. They remained devoted to each other for 26 years while spending quality time with their children and grandchildren.
Family members who will forever keep his memory alive in their hearts include; wife, Angie Creel Young of Dover, five sons; Richard E. Young, Jr. and wife Leann of Russellville, Kelly young of Indiana, Mike Creel and wife Rhonda of Dover, John Creel, Jr., of Florida, Jason Creel of California; 14 Grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Young of Michigan.
Passing on before Richard is his loving parents; Lester and Eva Sneed Young; his son, Scott Young and his beautiful daughter Annie Creel Robinson.
Visitation to pay respect to Richard Youngs amazing life and his family and friends will be Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 2:00 m to 4:00 pm, at Humphrey Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday, June 14, 2010 at 10:00 am at McFadden Cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service with Donald Robinson Officiating.
