Russell Lee Reeves

Russell Lee Reeves, age 71, a resident of Russellville, AR , formerly of Wichita, Kansas, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center at Russellville. He was born on September 3, 1928 at Green Forest, AR, to Elmer and Montana Marie Smith Reeves. Upon graduating from School of the Ozarks in 1947, Russ attended Arkansas Tech in Russellville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He married Iva Nell Moss on November 10, 1951 at Russellville. He served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He taught in Scranton and Plainview, Arkansas, Towanda, Kansas and then for 30 years at Campus High School in Haysville, Kansas. At Campus High School, Mr. Reeves served as chairman of the business department, and was career counselor. After his retirement in 1990, the family moved to Russellville, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Plainview Masonic Lodge #641 and the First United Methodist Church in Russellville.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Nell Moss Reeves of Russellville; one son, Tommy Lee and Peggy Leigh Reeves of Franklin; two grandchildren, Shauna Leigh and Kyle Lee Reeves of Franklin; his twin brother, Jack Smith Reeves and his wife Jackie of Forsyth; a brother in law, J.L. Moss and wife Peggy of Hot Springs; sisters in law, Maggie Sue Gowen of Russellville, Jo Ellen Robberson of Plainview, Lavada Linton Padgett and husband Elmer of Russellville, Linda Jane Burnham and husband Don of Russellville, Mary Nell LaFave and husband John of Russellville; many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Thursday, May 4, 2000 at the Humphrey Chapel officiated by Rev. Mackey Yokem, and assisted by Mr. John LaFave. Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery at Plainview, AR under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
