Steve Thomas Hildebrand Obituary (1948

Steve Thomas Hildebrand, age 52, a resident of Los Alamos, New Mexico, died Friday, April 6, 2001 at his home. He was born on May 17, 1948 at Prescott, AR, to Arl and Cleo Wynn Hildebrand. He married Mary Jane Watson on May 27, 1973 at Plainview, Arkansas. Steve received his Bachelor's in 1970 and his Master's in Physics in 1973 from the University of Arkansas. He completed his Ph. D. in Geophysics from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1993. After working in oil and gas exploration for several companies, he joined the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a seismologist. He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and the American Geophysical Union. Steve was a member of the Los Alamos Unitarian Universalist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Watson of Hildebrand of Los Alamos; three daughters, Melissa Hildebrand of Chicago, Emily Hildebrand of Fayetteville, Katie Hildebrand of Los Alamos; his mother, Cleo Wynn Hildebrand of Prescott; a brother, Jerry Hildebrand of Texarkana. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Plainview First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery at Plainview, AR under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Home of Ola. A Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13th at Los Alamos Unitarian Church with Rev. Elizabeth McMaster presiding.
