Steven Rook

Steve Rook, 70, of Russellville, died Monday, August 3, 2026, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.

The son of Joe Rook Jr. and Darlene Shaffer Rook, he was born February 10, 1956, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Patricia “Patty” Grant on August 22, 1975, in Russellville, and together they shared nearly 51 years of marriage.

Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He later built a successful career as a petroleum landman, where his strong work ethic, integrity and dedication earned the respect of his colleagues. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a loyal friend.

He was a member of the Fort Smith Association of Professional Landmen and the Sheet Metal Workers. A man of Baptist faith, Steve enjoyed playing baseball, watching horse racing and traveling with his family. He especially treasured the time he spent with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kirk Rook; his sister, Kim Rook; his aunt, Joyce Maestri; and his uncle, Charlie Park.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Rook of Russellville; his daughter, Amelia Underwood and husband Jonathan of London; his sister-in-law, Marcia Waldo; his brother-in-law, Joe Grant and wife Jan; his niece, Mary Reynolds and husband Zane; his grandniece, Nora Reynolds; his uncles, Ed Rook and wife Brenda, and John Shaffer and wife Fay; special cousins, Pam Wacaster and husband James, and Charlene Cates and husband Chip; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Humphrey Chapel, with Jim Bob Humphrey and James Wacaster officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Center Valley Memorial Gardens in Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 7, at the funeral home.
