Tommy Dee Edwards, 61, of Atkins, died Monday, May 10, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A son of Steve and Ruth Marie (Godfrey) Edwards, he was born June 11, 1959, in Russellville. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator, running his own company, Edwards Backhoe, for more than 30 years. He associated with the Baptist faith.\n\nTommy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Johnny Edwards and Benny Edwards; and two great nephews.\n\nHe is survived by his daughter, Kayla Edwards (Shannon Ford) of Atkins; two grandsons, Kadin Edwards and Kooper Ford; and a sister, Norma Wilhite of Bonifay, Florida. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude for the compassionate care of Arkansas Hospice, Tommy's caregiver, Autumn Banks, and Tommy's best friend, Robert Tippit.\n\nCremation arrangements are under the direction of the J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center. No public visitation is planned. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
