Vauda Odell (McMillen) Lee Obituary (1919

Vauda Odell (McMillen) Lee, 102, of Lavaca, Arkansas, passed into the presence of her Lord & Savior while a resident at Ashton Place Manor in Barling, Monday, January 31, 2022. Funeral services will be Monday, February 7, 2022, at 3:00 PM, in Humphrey Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville. Visitation with Vauda's family will begin at 2:30 PM. A private burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery in Pottsville. Vauda is survived by her only child, a daughter, Etta L. "Ginger" Smithson and son-in-law, Myrle J. Smithson of Lavaca; a little granddog, Yorkie Gidget; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, James Lee in 1997; and nine brothers & sisters. Vauda was the youngest and sole survivor of ten children born to Jeff W. and Zoe Henryetta (Clouette) McMillen on December 9, 1919, in Conway, Arkansas. She lived a good long life with her loving husband of 57 years, James F. Lee of Harrison. Her family moved to California during World War II where she worked at Douglas Air Craft in Long Beach as a "Rosie the Riveter." They later moved to Jauquin Valley, California, where they resided until 1963, when they moved back to Arkansas, living first in Waldron and then Russellville. She remained in Russellville 13 years before moving to Lavaca in 2009, where she could be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. Vauda was a strong lady who loved working her garden even when she was 100 years old. She was most passionate about her faith and relationship with Jesus Christ to whom she committed her life around 1945. She worshipped the Lord with the Pentecostal faith and depended on God for everything in her life. She didn't have a doctor and never took prescription medications, but faithfully trusted God for her healing and health.
