Verde Irwin Downey Obituary (1944 - 2019)

Verde Irwin Downey Jr., 74, of Russellville, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Legacy Heights Nursing Home in Russellville. The son of Verde Downey, Sr. and Marieta Boze, he was born September 7, 1944 in Dover. He was a Production worker with Star Industries and a former employee of Goodwill Inc. He was of the Baptist faith and previously attended The First Baptist Church of Atkins. He enjoyed watching baseball, football and wrestling. Verde was an avid bowler and a past participant in Special Olympics. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step father, Joe Zinka. Verde is survived by numerous cousins. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Humphrey Chapel. Bro. Bob Freeman will officiate. Burial will be at Owens Cemetery in Dover by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, on Saturday, at the funeral home.
